Franklin is located in Macon County within the Nantahala National Forest, between Almond and Highlands North Carolina. The weather in Franklin is never severe and we have 4 distinct seasons. Franklin NC receives a minimal amount of snowfall and the average temperatures in January are in the 40’s. Summers are mild with average temperature in August in the 70’s.
Franklin is a vacation, second home, relocation and retirement destination. The town is centrally located within an easy drive to a number larger city centers. Just two-hours away are Atlanta, GA, Knoxville, TN and Greenville, SC. Franklin is only an hour away from Gatlinburg, TN and Asheville, NC, and less than an hour away from the casinos in Cherokee NC.
